Welcome to the Edible Garden at Johnson Elementary School! This garden was created in the spring of 2009 in order to show how lessons learned in the classroom can apply to the natural world. Teachers are given a planting bed to use with their classrooms to apply lesson about everything from plant and animal adaptation and ecology, to math, literature and even social studies with this year’s  classes growing a Colonial Garden and Native American “Three Sisters” garden.

New Garden Added Spring 2010

A new garden was begun in the spring next to the edible garden.  The classes made stepping stones to help decorate this area.

Spring Gardens

Each class in the school planted a garden with edible plants.  Students learned about the agriculture, soil, and our environment as they planted their gardens.
